Highlighting Kansas City Recovery Resources

According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, over 700,000 Americans have died of drug overdoses since 2000. A recent survey says 31.9 million Americans ages 12 years and older currently use illegal drugs.

While these statistics staggering, substance abuse in the United States is not a new problem. Tragically, homelessness and substance abuse go hand in hand. The National Coalition for the Homeless has found that 38% of homeless people are alcohol dependent, and 26% are dependent on other harmful chemicals.

Local organizations like our partner Healing House Inc. exist to combat substance abuse in Kansas City and help individuals addicted to drugs and alcohol in our community start a new chapter of their lives.
